Vanta Network is the world's first decentralized funding engine for traders, built on Bittensor Subnet 8.

SN8 Vanta is a stock-picking contest with a live leaderboard, where traders and trading programs post buy and sell calls in play money, and the top of the table is handed real capital to trade.

The commodity, explained from zero

The product is a stream of trading signals: timed calls to go long (bet a price rises), short (bet it falls) or flat, on currency pairs, crypto, shares and commodities. The README says the network "receives signals from quant and deep learning machine learning trading systems" and ranks the miners behind them by returns, "while never exceeding certain drawdown limits". A drawdown is how far an account falls from its peak.

A good signal stream has a price because someone with capital can follow it. The front page calls Vanta "The World's First Decentralized Funding Engine for Traders", and llms.txt says the protocol "A-books the best-performing strategies into real capital deployment", meaning it trades them for real rather than betting against them. Parent company Taoshi Inc also sells a retail product, Vanta Trading, where a customer pays an evaluation fee from $9 for a $1,000 simulated account to $599 for $100,000, with a 10% profit target and 5% drawdown limits. The materials name no buyer of the signal stream and give no dated funding figure; the README's "Millions of $ Funding" links to a page reading "Registrations 0" without a browser.

Why it is on Bittensor at all

The front page states the difference as a table against traditional prop firms, the companies that stake traders with house money: scoring is "Validated Onchain, Immutable" rather than "Opaque, discretionary", participation is "Permissionless and global" rather than gated by geography, and the network "wins when traders win" where a firm "profits when traders fail". Whether the trading capital is bigger or cheaper than a firm's is not stated.

How the work gets done

Miners, the contestants, register a wallet key for under 1 TAO, deposit 300 to 1,000 Theta (Taoshi's own token, each unlocking $500 of simulated trading capacity) as collateral, pick one asset class and submit orders. Validators, the scorekeepers, record every order, apply simulated fees and slippage, track each account's daily profit and loss, and eliminate anyone who copies another miner's trades, drops 5% in a day or 8% from their best close, or goes 60 days without trading. Each week the previous week's profit, scaled by penalties, becomes a debt the network pays off through emission, the subnet's share of newly minted TAO, until midnight Sunday. Here the comparison breaks: a stock-picking contest costs nothing to enter, while an eliminated Vanta miner has its collateral slashed and burnt and its key permanently barred.

How you would know it works

The README points to the trade dashboard at vantanetwork.io/dashboard, and the tokenomics pages should show registrations, collateral and burns. To a fetcher each reads "Loading dashboard data"; a reader needs a browser. There is no dated benchmark or performance figure.

What is missing

No dated number for capital deployed or signals sold appears in text. The chain contact field is empty (llms.txt gives support@taoshi.io), and the discord field holds a username, not a link. There is no status page and no service commitment. The miner guide is undated, and the chain description says "liquidity and execution engine" where the site says "funding engine".

The first decentralized & trustless liquidity and execution engine for prop firms and traders
additional
Vanta Network is the first decentralized, trustless liquidity and execution engine for prop firms and traders. It live-trades top-performing miners who deposit alpha for funding, rewards them based on verifiable performance, and uses profits to buy back alpha, creating a transparent, risk-adjusted, and incentive-aligned trading ecosystem.
